The Phoenix rises again - second edition out now
An updated version of Prior Park College’s history, The Phoenix, An Illustrated History, is now available. Featuring additional material by former Deputy Headmaster, Denis Clarke, the book brings the school’s history up to date, covering the period since 1981 when the Christian Brothers departed and a lay headmaster, staff and board of governors took over the running of the school. The foreword is written by our now departing Headmaster.
The Phoenix II

Since the Christian Brothers’ departure, we have seen the admittance of girls to the school from 1986 and experienced the fire of 1991 which destroyed many school records and most of the upper floors in the Mansion, particularly the Academy Hall which was subsequently reconstructed. Four Headmasters since 1981 have presided over continual academic advances, an outward looking Catholic Christian ethos plus improved facilities such as the renovated swimming pool, new theatre and dance studios and more recently, the Bury Sports Centre. Boys and girls lining up to racePrior Park Schools; a charity that educates young people
Many of our students are able to experience a Prior Park education because of the generosity of our alumni, parents and friends. Once here, there is no distinction made between those who receive help with fees and those who don’t. They are all encouraged to have a go at the many programs, activities and games that the College has to offer. Read about three of our students here...

It was great to see Professor David Thomas of Bangor University back in the College to talk to our Academic Scholars and art students about Art in Science. It was mesmerising. The picture to the right is of diatoms of chalk taken from the White Cliffs of Dover. If you would like to give a talk to this generation of Prior Park students, then please get in touch.

Prior Park College comes together to thank the New Founders
On Sunday 27 January 2019, a Service of Thanksgiving was held at Our Lady of the Snows for the many individuals and families who have given so much to support Prior Park and its schools. The Chair of Governors, Michael King, on behalf of Prior Park Schools, recalled with considerable gratitude the action of those individuals who helped the College in the hour of its greatest need just short of 40 years ago - when the Congregation of Christian Brothers announced that the College and its Prep School could no longer continue.
