College Chapel in spring

Carole Laverick Leaves PPC

CaroleCarole has worked at the College for 11 years, with six of those running the alumni relations programme. Carole’s connection to Prior has many anchors: a mother to Pete (PPA 2013), five years on reception where she got to know students, staff, governors and parents; and most emphatically, the cast-iron link she made with our alumni, from across the generations as Alumni Relations Manager.

Whilst many of these links were made organically through her natural friendly disposition, the vast majority were created through her strategic and at times, experimental approach to alumni relations. Put simply, Carole imagined, planned and executed many programmes, events and activities that brought our past pupils closer to the College and to their peers, yet all the while thinking how PPC pupils might benefit from these relationships. And whilst it’s true that a college will need its alumni much more than alumni will ever need their college, Carole helped past pupils see the benefits of remaining part of the Prior Park Community.

Not every independent school in England can say it enjoys a congenial and convivial relationship with its past pupil's association, but PPC can and does. Again, this has not happened accidently, but through the clear channels of communication facilitated by Carole’s skillful and empathetic approach, and of course a very nice group of alumni on the Prior Park Assocation Committee!

Carole’s legacy will be felt throughout the College for many years to come, and it is the very idea of legacy and history that she might be best remembered. Carole loves this place and her blood runs College blue. This passion is best seen in her most recent work, uncovering the College’s past and the many incarnations of our historic buildings.

Prior Park College may not have the abundance of history claimed by the more ancient institutions, but Carole’s Hidden Prior series has uncovered a host of stories and facts that were previously unknown to even the most studious historians of Prior. These series have had thousands of views over the last year and have been enjoyed by alumni, teachers, parents, students, staff and local history groups. The Development and Alumni Relations Office would like to say thank you Carole, and the best way to show our gratitude is to build upon all the work you have done.

Carole is here until the end of July and if you’d like to say, ‘until next time’, her email is: ppa@thepriorfoundation.com
